BirdLife Australia - Discovery Centre
EagleCAM is a BirdLife Australia, Southern NSW, Research Project.
For information about EagleCAM visit the BirdLife Australia, EagleCAM website.
The Discovery Centre, at Sydney Olympic Park, NSW, AUSTRALIA is the home of EagleCAM.
It is an interactive interpretive hub where BirdLife Australia provide opportunities for people to learn about and engage with birds in their natural habitat. It is located in the Newington Armory – formerly the Royal Australian Navy Armaments Depot.
The Discovery Centre offers a variety of ways for people to learn about, see and engage with birds and their habitats. Numerous resources including presentations, kits, educational models and tools are also available to support others in the community interested in teaching or learning about birds.
EagleCAM display is housed in the centre building (Bld 131) along with other bird interactive displays. Building 131 is only about 350 meters (382 yards) from the Sea-Eagles nest, although it is not visible from the Discovery Centre, the High Definition Video monitors give a very good close up and personal view of all the action on the nest.
Above is a photo of the Discovery Centre in 2012 & below is the same building in 1949.

This photo was supplied by Robert Curran who was the Officer-in-Charge at Newington Armory in the late 1980s and is a volunteer at the Discovery Centre. For very detailed information please go to Robert's RANAD Newington website, you will be amazed at the amount of information he has there.
